I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. We at the Pride of Mobile certainly had a BUSY one.
December 1: The Chorus sang at the Creola Nutrition Center at 10 that morning ;board meeting at 6 followed by a chapter meeting at 7.
3: The Mobile Rehab Nursing Center
5: Oakleigh Mansion
7: The Chorus sang from 1 to 1:30 at the Bragg-Mitchell mansion then a quartet
went across town to sing at 2:00
8: Chapter meeting
9: We were scheduled to sing at Bellingrath Gardens but it got rained out.
10: Cogburn's Health Care on Tuscaloosa St.
11: Cogburn's Midtown
14: Some of us took time to take in a Sweet Adelines Show
In lieu of a chapter meeting on the 15th, we had an installation banquet on the 16th
The morning of the 16th we sang at two locations: Cogburn's West on Grelot Rd. @10
and Gordon Oaks @ 11
17: Across the Bay to Bay Ridge Nursing Home at Westminster Village
18: Two blocks up the street from my business for Eight Mile Nursing Home
This was the schedule for Friday, December 19th:
9:30 Meet at my house for coffee and doughnuts
9:45 Leave for Crowne Health Care (right around the corner from my house)
10:00 Sing at Crowne
11:00 Sing at Lynwood Nursing Home, just a few miles up my street
11:45 Back to my house for homemade soup (Thanks to my wife, Sandy!)
12:30 Convoy from my house to the next singout at Allen Memorial Home @
1:00 - 1:30 (Four hours of fun)
(on Sunday nite, Dec 21, several of us were involved in my Christmas Cantata)
22: Dumas Wesley Center at 10:30 followed by my quartet heading for a 1:30 in
Gulfport after I treated us to lunch at The Tiny Diny. Chapter that night.
23: Our Southern Home on Howell's Ferry Rd,
24: I treated 5 of us to breakfast at the Waffle House in St. Elmo @ 9 before we met
the rest at our final Christmas singout at Grand Bay Nursing Home. A quartet
went on to sing at a private party on Dog River later that morning.
That comes to 16 chorus singouts, a board meeting, an installation banquet, 3 chapter meetings,
a Sweet Adeline show, a Christmas cantata and several quartet singouts (not to mention the one
that got rained out!) Not bad for a chapter of only about 20 guys!
Oh, yeah! I almost forgot. In lieu of a chapter meeting tomorrow night, we've got a planning meeting scheduled for 5:30 (Is it any wonder I resigned as Minister of Music at my church today?)
Respectfully submitted by Immediate Past President and Incoming VP of Marketing and PR,
